about us

African Nite is a night for all Africans in the diaspora and friends of Africa, to get together once a month to network and socialize. It is a state registered entity, providing a unique monthly networking and entertainment night in the twin cities, facilitated by the original sounds of music from different countries of the motherland. Everybody is welcome. It is the premier destination for all who have visited, or intend to visit Africa, or those looking for a variety of music with roots in African styles. It also includes R & B, Reggae and Salsa, as well as social and professional networking opportunities.

Its OBJECTIVES are:

[A] --To provide a safe, comfortable, and classy atmosphere for business and social networking for everyone

[B] -- To promote the rich African diversity in music and entertainment by having a classy social evening of fun listening and dancing to the best African music.

[C] -- To bring the African and general business community together to network by providing product and service display booths at the venue, and encouraging business people to bring their business cards and fliers to the event and display them at a designated table.

[D] -- To use this website as a source of information for current businesses and social events in the African community.

The idea of hosting an event such as African Nite was a result of the lack of a formal networking venue in the African community in Minnesota. This idea was founded in 1996, and it is still work in progress. We welcome ideas and suggestions on how to improve this event to make it more meaningful and enjoyable to all. African Nite takes place every first Friday of each month. Caribbean Nite is every third Saturday of each month. Check for dates and venues.
